Living For Jesus Articles

Overcoming Fear in Your Life
Most homeschoolers are familiar with the fears that homeschooling brings. This article addresses a much more profound level of fear. If fear has caused you to change how you would otherwise live, then it’s time to overcome that fear, not by your own power but by the power of Holy Spirit.

Selecting a Bible
With Bibles coming in so many shapes, sizes, translations and versions, it can be difficult to know which Bible offers the best fit for you. Whether you’re selecting a Bible for your beginning reader or one for your personal study, some guidelines will help you find the best Bible for your needs.

Down Stream
If you were to look down stream in your life, what would you discover? What you're doing right now is being carried down stream into the lives of your children, your spouse, your friends, even your community. It's possible to have the outflow of your life be streams of living water.

Ordinarily Extraordinary
I’ve always believed that ordinary people can do extraordinary things through the power of the Holy Spirit. I’ve seen it happen to some of the most common people in the world.

Looking for Perfection
I recently made a purchase from a used bookseller at Amazon. Through no fault of the seller, the book I had ordered and paid for was unavailable. She promptly let me know and refunded my money. That would have been that, except that Amazon sends out feedback requests, and I decided to leave feedback on this seller. I had a positive experience with this seller, so I left her what I thought was a good feedback response. I got a sweet little note from her not thanking me for my good report, but begging that I remove it.

Opening Doors
I knew that he was going to have to go over and turn the doorknob and open that door. Max hadn't really seen that door until another little boy had opened it and peeked out...

Consider Your Ways
Through the prophet Haggai, the Lord spoke to the Israelites who had returned from exile in Babylon, rebuking them for not proceeding with the rebuilding of the temple. They had built their own houses but not the Lord's. Reading these words gave me pause. In what ways do I "build" my own house but neglect His.

God's Provision
When the ground falls out from underneath you, it is then you truly discover that God's promises to provide are never failing.

A Quiet & Gentle Spirit in the Slums of India
India is a place of stark contrasts. It is filthy, and yet everywhere there are beautiful young women with flowers in their hair. People live in thatched huts or tents made from plastic tarps not far from Internet kiosks.

Praying for Your Children
The Bible says in James 4:2-3, "...you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss,..." When I pray I like to pray 'big' prayers. I like to ask for much. I want those prayers I pray for my children to be the kind of prayers God answers, so I turn to the prayers of the Bible to find ways to pray that I know will be effective.

A Quiet Heart
A quiet heart, is that possible amidst all the clamor and commotion of a busy household especially one in which children are home on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis?

Developing a Child's Faith
What does a child need to know about the Lord?

How to Search the Scriptures
This method of Bible study was perfected in a small group Bible study I participated in for many years. As a group we grew closer to the Lord and each other by using this method to search all of scripture to gain insights into the character of God and his personal plan for our lives. The method is intense, but once learned and practiced becomes easier and less time consuming.
